The inside of the lid has a hand inscribed signature see photo, which we can find nothing on, apart from the Thomas Fattorini foundry in Birmingham which could have produced the collar and lid for this wonderful jug.

The first mark was entered by the firm in Sheffield Assay Office on 31 January 1878. It is hand blown old (not quite antique) glass showing small debris in the glass and striations. The pattern is etched grapevine, the base is star cut with a silver plated collar to enable stability.
