Rare Antique French Silver Plated & Blue Glass Caviar Urn Circa 1880s. Unknown French makers marks to the base’Dou Ble – S H. Approx Size including lid and handles: 26cm x 23cm wide. An antique French Silver Plated Caviar Urn or Confiturier. Original Blue glass liner with space for twelve spoons to hand from the outer rim. The focus of this centrepiece is the final, a simple button surrounded by petals and the classic’Malmaison’ leaf patterns around the rim. Beautiful large goats head handles catch the eye very quickly. The top rim of the urn features a scrolling’Malmaison’ band. The cut crystal bowl is surrounded by a pierced rim with twelve holders for the spoons and the lower panels feature a neoclassical design. The bowl sets inside a tapered silver base which in turn sets on a square stepped base. The urn with with crystal bowl offers endless possibilities for serving. French, Circa 1880s – 1900. Condition; very good, minor surface scratches in accordance with age and use. Several tiny dings on stepped base. One of the classical figures is missing the laurel branch from his hand on one side, by no means issue, mentioned for 100% accuracy/ The crystal bowl is in very good condition; no chips or cracks noted. Good solid condition, plating is still bright, some rubbing, surface marks, signs of age and use, commensurate with the clear pictures.
