Vintage Italian Cut Glass Claret Jug w/ Silver Plate On Zinc Ornate Top – Red Wine Decanter / Carafe / Ewer – Mid Century Barware – 30cm. A lovely showpiece, this cut glass claret jug will bring a touch of sophistication to any dinner party. Produced in Italy, the mount is ornately worked from the acorn finial and leaves on the hinged lid, the grapevine leaves repeated around the base of the mount and spout, to the foliate decoration on the handle. The thick cut glass features a starburst design to the base with square-cut detailing to the body. The inner lid is stamped’Italy’ and although this particular piece is unmarked, it is electroplated silver on a zinc base. The lid unscrews to reveal the original rubber seal. Condition wise, there is tarnishing around the inner neck and spout (see image #10) but no other damage present to the piece. W (Spout to handle): 11cm.
