This is a wonderful Victorian PICKLE CASTOR featuring a Crown Milano, Burmese Hobnail Jar/Insert – decorated with hand painted enamel Chrysanthemums – presented on a Pairpoint Quadruple Silver Plated Frame. The glass is not true Burmese – but white opalware glass with a shaded satin finish decorated to look like Burmese. The raised texture is known as “Hobnail” – more of a repousse diamond shaped cross pattern. Flowers are shown on opposing sides in bright colors – Purple, Pink & White on one side – Blue & White on the other – accented with Green leaves, stems and buds. The Frame is a footed piece with a ruffled skirt, openwork sides and a hoop handle topped with tiny rosettes – Marked: Pairpoint MFG. Co. / Quadruple Plate / New Bedford, Mass.
