Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a lovely vintage English silver plate inkstand with double cut glass inkwells made by John Round & Sons. The elaborately embossed inkstand has an unusual curved shape tray with slots for two inkwells, a lift top compartment for pin nibs or stamps and a mounted pen holder on the back. The design includes a fluted pattern on the front with textured embossed leaves on each ink well as well as other embossed decoration around the front border, the back of stand and on four elegantly decorated feet. The cut glass inkwells are cut with a vertical convex oval design around the top of body and a vertical cut ribbed design around the cent with the recessed base cut to fit the inkwell slots on the stand. Stand measures 1 1/2″ high (to bottom edge), 5″ high (at inkwells), 11 3/8″ long and 7″ wide. Inkwells measure 3 1/4″ high with a 3″ overall width. This nice silver plate inkstand is in very good to excellent Estate condition with the only noted flaws being some slight wear on the round platform that hold one inkwell and the stamp holder cover does not close tightly. One of the inkwells has a couple of chips on the bottom edge that is hidden by the rim of the ink holder when it is in place and there is some faint roughness around the bottom edge of the other inkwell. The silver plate lids on the inkwells are in excellent condition with no dents or dings although the collars appear to have been reattached at the glass at some time. The hinges are tight and the lids open and close correctly. We at Antiques & Moore have been in the Antiques business for over 30 years and try to describe our items as accurately as possible. We are happy to answer any questions and always appreciate your business!
