Here we have a Fine example of early German Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) metal work made by WMF Wurttemberg Metalwork Factory- Goppingen that dates firmly at the beginning of the 20th century. Its stamped with the running ostrich mark and the letter G underneath the WMF which is the 1903 mark, earliest running ostrich mark. Here we have a Magnificent Large Silver plated & crystal glass Fruit Bowl / Table display centrepiece, with its original WMF crystal Glass fitted insert. The bowl standing on its own Ebonised Wooden. The base is of tapered form with embossed cross boules and fine banding, leading to Queen Anne style ribbed decor flanked by further fine horizontal banding. The stunning handles are of swept geometric Jugendstil design mounted on Acanthus leaves and flowers. The central frame is embossed with floral bands and squares with a fine beaded decoration all around the bowls frame. The Sockle is only a plinth, however this is the original and of course fits perfectly into the base insert, it creates wonderful stability and infancies the overall appearance. A classic statement piece with an abundance of style and quality. This stunning example is very rare and such an exquisite example, this table Centrepiece is one of the most iconic of WMF art Nouveau silver plated fruit display / table centrepieces. Probably the finest example of this WMF model centrepiece for sale in today market. Height in Total including handles : 29 cm. Height to top of Bowl : 27 cm. Width including handles : 34 cm. Height of Sockle (Plinth) : 8 cm. Exceptional Fine condition, No silver loss, no dents, dints or scratches, No damage or repairs whatsoever. All the frame work is perfect without any buckles or twists, I believe this centrepiece has been a display item only as the condition is superb. Sits of the surface true and without any wobbles. Maybe some very fine marks commensurate with age, however they would be very fine! Over 120 years of age and a stunningly beautiful piece of fine art.
